Garbage and Recycling
Household materials should be disposed of in a safe and environmentally friendly way. The collection of garbage and recycling materials is a service provided by the municipality, so each community will have a different collection system and schedule.
In general, a common garbage collection system includes the following categories:
- Blue Bin – including materials and containers like glass bottles and jars, plastics, paper and cardboard.
- Green Bin – including organic materials such as food waste.
- Garbage – most items not acceptable for blue, or green bin collection.
However, the collection system in each community may differ. It is important to check with your municipality.
- The County of Simcoe has detailed information about residential collection services in Simcoe County.
- The City of Barrie and the City of Orillia provide garbage and recycling services for people living in their community.
