Work with the Teacher
One of the best ways to support your child’s education is to be involved. In Canada, parents are encouraged to be active in their child’s education. Parents are expected to talk to their kids about school, ask about homework, and meet their child’s teacher. If parents have questions or concerns, they are welcome to talk to the teacher or principal.
There are several opportunities for parents to come into the school and meet their child’s teachers. These may include “meet the teacher nights” and “student lead conferences.” However, parents are also welcome to speak with their child’s teacher at any other point during the school year. If a parent has a particular question or concern, it is best to phone or email to set up an appointment with the teacher. An appointment will allow time for the teacher to prepare and provide detailed answers.
