The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) permits temporary foreign workers and foreign students who have graduated in Canada to apply to stay permanently in the country.
To be accepted for permanent resident status through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), applicants must have:
- Required work experience obtained in Canada and was acquired with proper work permits or authorizations
- Work experience in Canada obtained in a job or an occupation that requires a specific level of skill, education or training
- Ability to communicate in one of Canada's two official languages
Advantage to Employers:
The Canadian Experience Class has streamlined application requirements allowing applicants to continue working in Canada while their application for permanent residence is processed (approximately 14 months). Employers continue to benefit from this supply of skilled labour while waiting on the application process.
