Field trips, also known as school trips, refer to learning activities students do as a class, outside of the regular school environment. It provides students with a learning opportunity different from their every-day classroom lessons. On field trips, students are able to apply some of the lessons they are learning in class to the outside world.
Field trips often take place during normal school hours. There are usually fees associated with attending a field trip. Before students are able to attend a field trip, they usually need to have a signed form from a parent saying they are allowed to attend.
Often on field trips, parents are allowed to come and help supervise the children. This is a good way for parents to be more involved with the school community.
