Parks are outdoors spaces available for use at no cost. Many parks have a playground area for children that includes outdoor equipment such as slides and swings. Some parks have tennis courts, outdoor ice rinks or larger field areas for team sports like soccer or baseball. Go for a walk, read a book, or just enjoy the outdoors.
There are also Conservation Areas and Ontario Provincial Parks located throughout Simcoe County that provide opportunities to enjoy and learn about natural and cultural resources. Visit the Ontario Conservation Areas and Ontario Provincial Parks websites to learn more about locations and fees.
Biking and Walking Trails
Simcoe County has many rural and urban trails. These trails are ideal for walking, running, hiking, cycling and/or snowshoeing.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit website has information about physical activity.
Arenas and Recreation Centres
Many communities in Ontario offer free or low-cost community centres and recreation programs to residents. The recreation facilities in a community could include an ice arena, a swimming pool, and/or a gymnasium. Some programs require you to register before the program starts, while others are considered “drop-in” and do not require registration.
