Health Care Options

In Ontario there are a number of ways to access the health care you need. It is important to know your options so you can make the right choices to meet the needs of you and your family.

The Government of Ontario website has more information about health-care options in Ontario:

Telehealth

Telehealth Ontario is a free and confidential telephone service that provides health advice or general health information from a Registered Nurse, and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Health insurance is not required to use Telehealth Ontario. The Telehealth Service provides advice about health-related concerns such as health symptoms, illness, injury, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles.  Information is available in English and French, and translation support is available for other languages.

Family Health-Care Provider

A family health-care provider, such as a family doctor, provides health care to you and your family, including health advice, examinations, prescriptions, vaccinations, and referrals to other health specialists, programs, and service.  A family health-care provider will understand your health history and provide ongoing care.

The government of Ontario has a Health Care Connect program to help Ontario residents find a family health-care provider:

The North Simcoe Muskoka Healthline has an online directory, which covers most of the geographic region of Simcoe County.
