Pregnancy and Birth


There are many services and resources available in Simcoe County for women who are pregnant.  Services are available from community health centres, hospitals, and other community-based organizations.

Sexual and Reproductive Health


Sexual and reproductive health is an important aspect of health and wellbeing. Topics related to sexual and reproductive health, including sexually transmitted infections, birth control, menopause, infertility, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT).

  • The Ontario council of Agencies Service Immigrants (OCASI) has developed the Positive Spaces Initiative, which helps to support Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and additional people who identify as part of sexual and gender diverse communities 2SLGBTQI+ newcomers. Visit the OCASI website for more information
  • The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has a wide range of information, programs and resources related to sexual health online.
  • The North Simcoe Muskoka Healthline has an online directory, which covers most of the geographic region of Simcoe County. 

Children’s Health


Helping children stay healthy is an important role for parents. Many organizations provide information, programs and resources about a wide range of topics related to children’s health, such as the importance of immunizations, car seats, flu shots, and healthy nutrition.

Senior’s Health


Staying healthy and active is important as we age. Many organizations within Simcoe County provide programs, information and resources for people aged 65 and over.

  • To learn more about local programs and services, contact 211 Community Connection by dialing 2-1-1 or visiting www.infosimcoecounty.ca.  211 Community Connection provides free, confidential information about human services, and is available in over 150 languages and TTY. 
  • The Seniors’ Info website is an online resource for seniors and their families, and provides access to information about seniors’ health, services and programs in communities across Canada.
  • The Information for Seniors from the Government of Canada provides information about services and programs from the Government of Canada for seniors and their families.
  • The Seniors’ Guide from the Government of Ontario is an online guide to programs and services for seniors in Ontario.
  • The North Simcoe Muskoka Healthline has information about services and programs for seniors through an online directory, which covers most of the geographic region of Simcoe County.
  • The Prevention of Senior Abuse Network – Simcoe County provides local services, supports and resources related to the prevention of senior abuse in Simcoe County.

Eating well and getting enough physical activity are important aspects of living a healthy lifestyle.  Topics include diet, nutrition, physical activity, and food safety.
